Oldest of six children of Paul (Joliet firefighter - deceased), and Marilyn (Mannell) McGuire, a native of Lockport

 

Graduate of St. Paul the Apostle School in Joliet, Joliet Catholic High School, and the College of St. Francis

 

Married to Lora (McDonald) McGuire, R.N., M.S. of Channahon, national pain management expert and the recipient of numerous state and local awards

 

One daughter, Molly, a graduate of the Joliet public schools and a junior at Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame, Indiana.

Better Funding for Better Schools Coalition

Led extensive efforts to bring about school funding reform and property tax relief such as organizing town hall meetings, testifying at Speaker Madigan's Bipartisan Budget Summit, arranging for an Illinois Senate Education Committee hearing to be held in Joliet, writing an op-ed piece on tax reform for The Herald News, leading Will County delegation to "A Day for Illinois Children" rally at the state capitol.

Serves the residents of Jackson, Joliet, and Troy Townships including the municipalities of Joliet, Shorewood, Rockdale and Elwood.  Recipient of awards and endorsements from Tech Prep Parents Club, Bilingual Parent Organization, and S.P.O.R.T.S. (Students-Parents on Resurrecting Two Sports). Top vote-getter in all four elections: 1993, 1997, 2001, 2005
